Mystery plays were performed by city guilds whose skills were called "mysteries." The plays evolved from biblical readings and dealt with topics such as this one based on Exodus. Here Moses hears God speaking from the burning bush. Note the use of a wagon as stage, set in a city street, with minimum scenery.
