Much Ado: Open-air performance by the U.C. Berkeley Shakespeare Program, 1996. Benedick, Josha Crowley; Beatrice, Courtney Levin
Here younger performers and less constricting costumes allow actors more freedom of movement and hence fuller, more natural range of expression, matching more open sexual behavior in the late twentieth century than was customary in earlier periods. Elizabethan performances were also more open, energetic and informal than those during the neoclassical period, 1660-1810. See Gallery 9 Subalbum 9 for more images of this production.
