Petrarch's House at Arquà Petrarca
About 1368 Petrarch and his daughter Francesca (with her family) moved to the small town of Arquà in the Euganean Hills near Padua, where he passed his remaining years in religious contemplation. He died in this house in Arquà on July 19, 1374 – one day short of his seventieth birthday. From the UCB Shakespeare Program collection, photographed by Velma Bourgeois Richmond.
