The Second Globe Theatre (1614-1642)
This printed detail of a London panorama, from a drawing by Wenceslas Hollar around 1636-1640, is of the second Globe Theatre, which was built on the foundations of the first Globe after it burned down in 1613. It and the original sketch on which it is based (previous image) provide the best clues to the structure of both theatres according to John Orrell, though the stage roof here seems larger than the earlier theatre's may have been, and the building was incorrectly identified as for bear-baiting in the original print.
