This impression of the first Globe Theatre is an enlarged and colorized detail from J. C. Visscher's engraved panorama of London (1616) Despite the picture's clarity, scholars doubt Visscher's accuracy (e.g. they question the octagonal shape as having too few sides). The image was first printed three years after the first Globe burned down.
