The Rose Theatre as built for Philip Henslowe by John Griggs in 1587.
The black lines indicate excavated foundations, the red lines the conjectured unexcavated remainder. The pink area indicates the dimensions of the galleries above; the yellow area indicates the stage. The diameter of the outer walls was roughly seventy-two feet. This theatre was where Shakespeare's Henry VI and Titus Andronicus were performed (see previous image). The theatre was expanded later. This recreation is based on materials developed by Museum of London archeologists.
