'Julius Caesar' Orson Welles, 1937.
This was the famous modern dress production with uniforms analogous to those of Hitler's Germany, and associating Caesar with Mussolini. Welles's innovations have been echoed in many subsequent modern productions, which have seen parallels between Caesar's fall and the downfalls of various governments in the twentieth century, such as the Ian McKellan Richard III, directed by Richard Loncraine, 1995.
