4.18 Charles Kemble (1775-1854)

Charles Kemble was the brother of John and Sarah. He acted with them from 1794 on and did very well in roles such as Orlando, Laertes, Cassio, Malcolm, and Macduff, Macready regarded his Cassio as incomparable, and summed him up as "a first-rate actor of second-rate parts." This drawing, made by R. J. Lane in 1798, was owned by his sister, Sarah.
