Globe Site: The desolate condition of the specific site before the beginning of Sam Wanamaker's reconstruction of the Globe.

Despite the ruinous conditions in the foreground one can also see here the magnificent perspective across the River Thames to St. Paul's Cathedral which was afforded by Sam Wanamaker's moving of the new theatre closer to the river bank than the original site in Shakespeare's time.
