Ford's Jealousy in The Merry Wives of Windsor (II.ii) Verges on Tragedy The jealous Mr. Ford suspects his wife is having an affair with Falstaff and, disguising himself as the motorist Mr. Brook, he tries to entrap them. The intensity of the scene anticipates Othello, and reminds us that Shakespeares tragicomedies can mix intensely serious and comic effects. From a production of the U.C.B. Shakespeare Program.
